The Chimney Sweep Shop started in 1973 on Dorset St. in South Burlington, and has worked hard ever since to bring you the best in wood stoves and fireplaces. The business quickly outgrew its cramped location. Owner Roy L’Esperance purchased the large 14,000 square foot building on Shelburne Road where we still are today. Over the years we’ve changed the displays of stoves, fireplaces and accessories and have carried lines from Garrison, Elmira, Vermont Castings and Jotul. Multiple expansions have helped make Chimney Sweep one of the largest retail hearth shops in the country. We are constantly updating our displays of fireplaces installed in walls, cabinets, bars, and wall units to keep pace with modern tastes. Our brand new kitchen appliance center features Heartland appliances, and we have working gas stoves and fireplaces included in our huge showroom so you can see how they would look in your home. During the season, there is always a woodstove going on the massive stone central hearth.
Opening on the Barre-Montpelier Road in 1978, Chimney Sweep II moved to it’s new location in 1999 in the same shopping center, tripling the available floor space. The additional room allowed us to bring a Fire Light Design Center to Central Vermont with the installation of working fireplaces and gas stoves.
Purchased in 2001, The Chimney Sweep Hearthside Shoppe in Plattsburgh, NY allows us to better service the North Country of New York. With the amount of business we had done across Lake Champlain, we thought it would make sense to bring our wood stove and fireplace displays closer to our customers in New York.
